Warning! If you happen to pass by my house on any given Sunday during football season and hear what you think might be a domestic disturbance - please do not call the police. It is just the Russell family watching football. It seems like each year I kind of forget what it is like around here during football season. Probably because I have been traumatized and I am suppressing my memories. But the first Sunday that The Denver Broncos play I am suddenly reminded. So I try to lay low and stay out of the way because it gets really intense.
This past Sunday the Broncos played the San Diego Chargers. Near the end of the 4Th quarter Denver had pretty much lost the game. And when they lose I try stay hidden because you don't want to be here when Denver loses. So from the security of my bedroom I hear Randy saying over and over "I told you Denver would just hand this game over". Then I hear Ryan say "You have no faith in our team". Actually they were yelling that then Ryan starts sending me text messages that say Dad has no faith in our team! Like I can do something about that! Then I look over at Brandon and he looks like a scared puppy in the corner afraid to move. Meanwhile the yelling and the shouting (maybe even a few questionable words here and there) continues to go on at the T.V. Which I have never understood. But I am afraid to be the one to tell them that the ref's, coaches and players can not hear them. But I just go about my business hoping this game will end soon. Well during these last few minutes of the game this past weekend Denver's QB Jake Cutler fumbles the ball, San Diego recovered which basically meant game over Denver lost. But The ref blew the whistle thinking it was an incomplete pass so the call had to stick. It was clearly a fumble, Chargers were not happy because when the call was made it had to stick. So Denver gets the ball back, Scored a touchdown, Went for a 2 point conversion and WON the game 39-38!! It was a miracle but that few seconds when they were going for that TD and 2 pt conversion were very intense here. I looked over at Ryan and it looked like he was about to explode, Randy was pacing back and forth shouting who knows what, Brandon still scared in the corner. Well when Denver made that score it was like they just won the super Bowl or something. Ryan actually stared jumping up and down and he seriously started to cry!!! No joke he was balling like a baby. I could not believe my eyes I had never seen this happen over a play before so I took out my camera and started to take picture of him. Well the game was over Chargers were all over the T.V. saying how Denver cheated to win. But we didn't care all we care about is that Denver won. Randy was back to saying how awesome his team was, Brandon came out of the corner and Ryan was well - crying. Everyone was happy there was no more shouting or saying of questionable words. Our happiness at this point has made us all forget how upset we were 5 minutes ago. I guess this is how Father & Son's bond. I don't get it???

When Brandon watches football Saturday-Monday he does the EXACT same thing. Screaming, shouting, throwing things...I've learned just to leave and go spend his money :)
Haha. Thanks for sharing. That's so funny about boys and their football. Hey, I got texting! :) But I don't have your phone number any more... In the process of switching phones with my sister, she deleted your number before I could get it. (I still have the number that I gave you when I left, though.)
That is funny...I was laughing the whole time I was reading it...football season gets a little crazy around here also..I can't wait until my boys start to get into football with me like that...Go Redskins!!!!
We love Ryan and his warm fuzzy side!!
